1. An expression of congratulations or praise directed at a female.
Comes from the expression "that's a good girl" which became "that a girl" and finally "attagirl."
"Attagirl! I knew you could do it.

2. A girl that is awesome, meaning "that-a-girl" or "what-a-girl", also see shiznit.
Bonnie is such an attagirl. (My personal favorite definition)

3. this definition is too vulgar... and I honestly have no idea why it would be considered a definition of this word

Anyway, I got an "Attagirl" today. Very nice considering I was in the boss-man's office yesterday crying so hard that I made the Niagra Falls seem like a puddle streaming downhill.

Jim is one of our "Corporate Trainers" and is highly respected in our company. He is one of those guys that has been around forever, knows the ins and outs better than anyone, and is highly respected. I am very excited that of all people, he is recognizing me and my abilities.
